Be a goldfish, J.J. McCarthy

This weekend, Michigan will host Ohio State in perhaps the biggest game of the college football season. There is absolutely no shortage of storylines, from the sign-stealing allegations facing Michigan, the pressure on Ryan Day to finally beat the Wolverines, the questions regarding quarterback J.J. McCarthy after two lackluster performances, and what this game means in the title chase.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh — who will serve the final game of his three-game suspension on Saturday — addressed the media on Monday morning. And if you were wondering where the head coach’s mind is ahead of this critical matchup, you have your answer.

It is in a Ted Lasso rewatch, apparently.

During his comments, Harbaugh talked about the spirit of the Michigan locker room, and he offered this reply:

If that sounds familiar to you, well, you might just be a Ted Lasso fan:

This is the full quote from season one, where Ted is addressing Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent in the locker room: “Now, listen. You two knuckleheads have split our locker room in half. And when it comes to locker rooms, I like ’em just like my mother’s bathing suits: I only wanna see ’em in one piece, you hear?”

What’s next on Harbaugh’s agenda this week?

Maybe reminding McCarthy to be a goldfish.
